BRAZIL’S BALANKA DROPS PSYCHEDELIC-INFUSED EP ON REPOPULATE MARS
Brazil’s own Balanka steps up on Lee Foss’ Repopulate Mars with his new three-tracker, Bad B. Known off the dance floors as Gabriel Veiga, he has been carving his name into Brazil’s underground scene before making moves in Europe. With previous support from Michael Bibi, Vintage Culture and Mau P, Balanka pushes into a fresh psychedelic-leaning tech house sound that fuses club energy with a deeper, experimental edge.
BALANKA’S PSYCHEDELIC SHIFT
Speaking on the release, Balanka explains: “This EP marks the beginning of my transition into indie dance and a deeper dive into psychedelia as a form of art. I’ve brought with me everything I’ve learned from what works on dance floors across Brazil, my home country, and blended it with my love for alternative rock and my roots in dance music.” That hybrid approach defines Bad B and signals a new artistic era for the São Paulo-born talent, who is intent on evolving beyond the club into more experimental spaces.
HEAVYWEIGHT GROOVES FOR THE FLOOR
The title track Bad B kicks hard with steel-plated tech house drums, a sleazy vocal rap and skewered synth stabs built for peak-time moments, it’s already found early support from AYYBO at the Main Room, Seismic Dance Event. ‘Fatal Blows’ follows with funk-loaded basslines, chopped vocals and a tight groove that keeps the floor in motion. Closing track ‘Roll On’ brings cosmic synth textures and hip-hop swagger into the mix, rounding off an EP that cements Balanka’s arrival on one of the most recognized labels in the game.
