SPOTIFY RETURNS TO DJ SOFTWARE WITH NEW INTERGRATIONS

Spotify has officially returned to DJ software, allowing DJs to stream and mix tracks directly from their Spotify Premium accounts within Serato, Rekordbox, and Djay Pro. This is a huge shift, giving DJs access to Spotify’s full catalog while keeping their local libraries close at hand.

REQUIREMENTS AND SETUP

To get started, you need a Spotify Premium account and a stable internet connection, as tracks cannot be used offline. Currently, this integration is only available on desktop versions of the supported DJ software.

USING SPOTIFY IN YOUR SETS

DJs can stream over 100 million tracks, explore curated playlists, and mix Spotify tracks alongside their own files. It’s a powerful way to discover new music, test sets, and practice transitions without hunting through multiple record pools or download folders.

LIMITATIONS TO KEEP IN MIND

Spotify tracks cannot be used with features like Stems, and offline access isn’t available. Not all DJ software supports the integration — VIRTUALDJ, TRAKTOR, ENGINE DJ, and standalone REKORDBOX are not included.

A TOOL, NOT A REPLACEMENT

Think of Spotify as a creative assistant. It helps you organize, test, and refine your music before stepping into the booth, but it doesn’t replace proper licensing or high-quality track files for professional performance.
