TYKE MAKES REPOPULATE MARS DEBUT WITH GROOVE-HEAVY ‘1,2 ROLLER’ EP
Detroit’s Tyke steps onto Lee Foss’ Repopulate Mars this May with his debut EP for the label, ‘1,2 Roller’. Arriving off the back of releases on Hottrax, Mood Child and Tamango, the project continues a strong run for the rising producer, whose sound blends minimal and deep tech influences with a clear focus on groove, character and club-ready movement.
For Tyke, the release marks a major milestone. Repopulate Mars has long been a target label for him, and with its history of standout records and forward-thinking club cuts, the EP feels like a natural next step. Built around darker dancefloor energy, ‘1,2 Roller’ leans into talking basslines, rolling drums and synth work that pulls the listener deeper into the groove.
The title track opens the EP with sharp tech drums, rapped vocals and a buzzy lead that cuts straight through the mix. ‘Can’t Stop’ follows with a funkier touch, pairing crisp percussion with a nimble bassline and airy female vocal, while ‘Got Caught’ closes things out with punchy low-end, R&B-flavoured samples and a groove built to shake the room.
Already picking up support from names including Yaya and Joshwa, ‘1,2 Roller’ positions Tyke as another exciting name moving through the deeper, groovier corners of tech house. With his Repopulate Mars debut now locked in, this EP feels like a confident statement from an artist clearly finding his lane.
