Following years of success as one half of one of UK house music’s most respected duos, Illyus Barrientos is now firmly established as a solo artist, building on that legacy with the same instinct for timeless, club-focused house music. With releases across Toolroom, Defected, Glasgow Underground, Love & Other and Nervous Records, his music has earned support from Carl Cox, Chris Lake, Hot Since 82, FISHER, Sam Divine, Mark Knight and Armand Van Helden, alongside official remixes for Duke Dumont, Dom Dolla, Purple Disco Machine, Calvin Harris and Sonny Fodera 🔥
Behind the decks, his journey has taken him to some of the world’s leading clubs and festivals, from Fabric and The Warehouse Project to Printworks, Hï Ibiza, Ushuaïa, CRSSD Festival and Splash House. He has also delivered a BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix, hosts Toolroom Radio and works as an A&R for Electronic Nature, helping shape new releases and champion emerging talent.
His latest release ‘Be Hot’ sees him land on Danny Howard’s Nothing Else Matters with a full-throttle club record built around a huge bassline, driving drums and relentless groove. Already supported by Carl Cox and Chris Stussy at UNVRS Ibiza, the record adds to a strong run of solo releases that has also included ‘Thinking Of You’ on The Cross, an uplifting piano house cut pairing classic rave influences with contemporary UK club energy.
